   Taking a break from blogging - I've been working on refinishing the
   deck and landscaping the garden. For some reason, standing in the hot
   sun breathing weird chemicals makes my brain kind of wonky.

   So, don't expect any insight on the Israel/Lebanon crisis. Or Newt
   Gingrich.

   I do know that Behr's Redtone No. 402 waterproofing wood finish makes
   a dumpy grey-wood deck look like new. And red cedar mulch isn't too
   expensive when you buy it in bulk. The new rubber mulches are cool. I
   think I may use them to make a little path through the garden, or I
   may use little pebbles (if my son is willing to carry the heavy pebble
   bags for me).

   I also made my biannual visit to Whole Foods yesterday. When I was
   packing the groceries into my car, a guy pulled up in his SUV, pointed
   to the dent in the back of the Prius and said "Hey, lady, I can fix
   that dent for you real cheap." I figured this was a variation on the
   usual gypsy 'fix your driveway cheap' with a coating of motor oil
   routine, so I said 'Thanks but no thanks'.

   He kept insisting on giving me a price for a repair I didn't want, so
   I got ruder and he went away. I have to wonder, did he cruise the
   Whole Foods parking lot regularly for marks? Why would someone think
   that customers who pay $12 per pound for pearlized Middle Eastern
   couscous are gullible?
