     "2X2L calling CQ ... 2X2L calling CQ, New York ... Isn't there
     anyone on the air? Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't ... there
     ... anyone?"

   Seventy years ago this October, that was the final transmission as the
   towering Martian war machines waded the Hudson River from New Jersey
   into Manhattan. Or so Orson Welles had millions believing in that
   famous Halloween "War of the Worlds" broadcast.
   Andy Aplikowski's Residual Forces has gone off the air. So has Gary
   Miller's Truth vs. The Machine. They appear to be victims of a server
   outage, IPower I believe. From what I've been able to surf, there are
   many unhappy IPower customers out there. There are hints of financial
   trouble, too.
   Andy is of course a founder of True North, Gary a contributor, so I'm
   sure they'll continue to be heard there. But Andy, if you need more
   space to vent as only you can, I'll be happy to make room on Speed
   Gibson for you in the interim.
