Ali wants to know the answer to this question: [1]isn't it likely that
loners turned killers like Dylan Klebold (Columbine killer), DC sniper
and Virginia Tech shooter probably WOULDN'T be able to get guns? Isn't
that a good enough reason to take guns out of the system?
The answer isn't simple but two commenters answer in the comments,
pretty much, the way I would.
Scott Kirwin: "The only thing that stops a murderer is to kill
him." and Martin Shoemaker in response to Scott: "Which is harder
to do if he's the only one who's armed."
We can make anything we want illegal, in fact, we have. [drugs,
alcohol, sodomy] Making something illegal doesn't stop criminals, it
only makes some law abiding citizens criminally liable or it stops
them completely. Criminals won't just wake up and say "oh shit, I
better get rid of this gun". They're criminals. They don't give two
shits for the law anyway.
If we declare all guns illegal, that won't get rid of the guns and it
won't stop gun violence. It will only prevent good people from
defending themselves.
So, what is the answer?
