[1]Treasury International Capital Data for September was released
today and continues a worrisome trend: too small foreign investment in
our securities, especially long term U.S. Governments. We need about a
$60 Billion inflow per month and we were getting the needed inflow
until July. Not only were we getting the needed inflow, but there were
never three months in a row that did not meet our needs. Take a look
at the 2007 Numbers:
Foreign Demand for Long-Term U.S. Securities
Released on 1/17/07 For Nov 2006
Actual $68.4B
Released on 2/15/07 For Dec 2006
Actual $15.6B
Released on 3/15/07 For Jan 2007
Actual $97.4B
Released on 4/16/07 For Feb 2007
Actual $58.1B
Released on 5/15/07 For Mar 2007
Actual $67.6B
Released on 6/15/07 For Apr 2007
Actual $84.1B
Released on 7/17/07 For May 2007
Actual $126.1B
Released on 8/15/07 For Jun 2007
Actual $120.9B
Released on 9/18/07 For Jul 2007
Actual $19.2B
Released on 10/16/07 For Aug 2007
Actual $-69.3B
Released on 11/16/07 For Sep 2007
Actual $26.4B
Three months in a row. That is not a good sign! The securities have to
be purchased. We need the inflow, if not then the FED will have to
purchase the securities, monitization, and that is highly
inflationary.
