   From the [1]WSJ:

Securities regulators are checking the books at top Wall Street
brokerage firms and banks to make sure they aren't hiding losses in
the subprime-mortgage meltdown, said people familiar with the
     inquiry.

Bill Murphy at Le Metropole Cafe asks a great question:

Isn't it odd we haven't heard a peep out of J.P. Morgan Chase (JPM)
and their 71 TRILLION DOLLAR DERIVATIVES BOOK? Or how about
Citibank with 30 TRILLION in derivatives or B of A at 28.5
     TRILLION?

We've seen Bear Sterns get in trouble over three funds. Yesterday, we
heard about asset backed commercial paper in money market funds.
Today, Goldman Sachs is experiencing trouble in two funds. Now the SEC
is investigating Wall Street firms. What about J.P. Morgan Chase and
their 71 TRILLION DOLLAR DERIVATIVES BOOK? How's it doing?
