Michigan Primary

Well somewhat to my surprise, like [1]The Queen, I voted for John
McCain today. As harshly critical as I have been towards his
responsibility for the despicable McCain-Feingold campaign finance
"reform" law (which should more appropriately be called the First
Amendment Repeal), on issues that matter a great deal to me he's on
the most important side most of the time. And he's the most serious
and responsible candidate. Senators generally make lousy candidates,
but if a Senator we are to have (and it seems inevitable this year)
he's the best qualified of any running now (save perhaps Joe Biden on
the Democratic side, and he's already done).
It'll be interesting to see what the results are. It's already past
8pm here and none of the news sources, but given the nature of the
race, where both national parties have basically flipped Michigan
voters the bird (Republicans just [2]a little less vehemently), I
don't expect we'll know the winners, if you can call them that, until
morning.
Oddly enough, I did vote for McCain in 2000 in the primaries, also
finding that due to odd circumstances there was no reason to register
Democratic that year either. It seems Michigan Dems just don't want
Esmay votes. Ah well, maybe next election cycle...
