Support the New Media (Again)

I found [1]this post from exactly a year ago. I think it's worth
re-running today given the quality of work we've seen over the past
year from these people. Oh, and I forgot to mention Michael Yon,
[2]whose book you might want to consider preordering before its April
   release.

Just a note that I heard from one of our people that actually goes and
reports from the places we think about - Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon -
and relies upon donations to pay the bills.

Donations are running short. "I think it's because money is tight
   after Christmas," he wrote.

Donations... I hate that term. Donations are what the ACLU, PBS and
PETA plead for. I don't donate when I pick up an issue of New
Scientist or Popular Mechanics. I don't donate to the plumber that
   comes to fix a pipe.

I pay for stuff and you should too.

   Money is tight after Christmas....

F*** that. That's no excuse. People like [3]Michael Totten and [4]Bill
Roggio are professionals. We live in a society where professionals get
paid for what they do. This isn't some anarchistic utopia where people
do what they do for the sheer love of it and money has ceased to
exist; I don't care if Captain Picard never pulled out his Visa to pay
   for his Earl Grey tea.

These men are professionals and should be treated as such. Think of
the money you throw away on MSM newspapers like the New York Times,
the LA Times, or the Washington Post. How much do you spend on the New
   Yorker, Newsweek and Time?

These men deserve your money. It's what they do - and do better than
you, me or half the staff at the NYT. Pay them now - and no whining.

Update from Dean: Don't forget our friends [5]Bill Ardolino or [6]Mary
Madigan, please. You want real "independent media?" Here they are,
   boys and girls...
