   I was talking to my dad recently, and having been involved in the
   legal system his whole life as an employee of the justice system, he
   said something very funny and, I think, astute: divorce attorneys are
   probably the lowest form of life in the legal universe. Their entire
   incomes are based on feeding the resentment and the anger of their
   clients, and in "protecting the interests" of their clients by doing
   anything that will allow them to bill as many hours as possible and
   suck as much money as possible out of one or both parties.

   I've seen that in action lately, and it ain't pretty.

   An intelligent system would automatically bypass attorneys and force
   both parties into legally binding arbitration instead, and help people
   just settle their differences amicably. But of course divorce
   attorneys hate the very idea.
