   Bob Dole recently came to John McCain's defense. [1]Here's the letter
   he wrote. It's worth a read.

   I find conservative vitriol towards McCain just as weird as the
   animosity on the right and left towards Clinton. Well no; on the
   issues, I understand why conservatives (of which I'm not one) don't
   want a Hillary Presidency. McCain, though, has one of the most solid
   conservative records I've ever seen, and Bob Dole agrees. Just ask Bob
   Dole and he'll tell you: Bob Dole likes McCain.
