The Carnival of Islam in the West

Welcome to the Carnival of Islam in the West, a collection of
reflections and explorations of Islam from the point of view of
Muslims in the West, hosted for the first time here at Dean's World.
As of this week Ramadan has begun and to all of my Muslim friends, a
blessed Ramadan!
Eric Michael Johnson discusses faith, feeling, and reason in [1]The
Feeling of What Happens posted at [2]The Primate Diaries. I think it's
worth mentioning that the books of the Hebrew Bible, to the extent
that they have titles at all, are frequently title "The Word of God as
it happened to X". In other words the emphasis is on experience rather
than the more intellectualized "according to".
There are plenty of candidates for the forces responsible for
radicalizing Muslims. Arnab gives his take in [3]Who "radicalizes" the
Muslims? posted at [4]Only Three Notes.
Abdur Rahman continues his exploration of the Qur'an in [5]Exploring
the Quran: Chapter 1:5 posted at [6]Abdur Rahman's Corner.
Yahya Birt posts on the interactions and disagreements of different
schools of Islamic thought in the West in [7]Sufis and Salafis of the
West: Discord and the Hope of Unity posted at [8]Yahya Birt.
Salahudin has two posts in the Carnival this week. In the first he
wonders [9]Is Islamophobia declining?. In the second he considers the
sources and consequences of mutual misperceptions between Muslims and
non-Muslims in [10]Hypotheses of Misperception part I. Both are posted
at [11]In the Name of Towelie!.
Abu Muhammad, too, has two posts in the Carnival this week. In the
first he considers the Contemporary School of Islamic thought in
[12]Ghamidi's interpretation of Islam: Is it a fad that will fizzle
out with time?. In the second he ponders the nature of religious
experience in [13]Prophetic Experience of Revelation: Iqbal, Fazlur
Rahman and Malik Bennabi. Both are posted at [14]Non Skeptical Essays.
Naeem has four posts in this week's Carnival. In the first he asks
[15]Where o' where is the Muslim Mr. Rogers? posted at [16]Naeem's
Blog. In the second he reflects on Ramadan in [17]My Ramadan Blues
also posted at [18]Naeem's Blog. In the third post Tariq H. offers two
alternative life paths in [19]Am I Not Your Lord? posted at [20]The
Vision Quest. In the last post he notes the underemphasized religious
factor in the abduction of South Koreans by the Taliban in Afghanistan
in [21]The role of the Church in the South Korean-Taliban fiasco
posted at [22]Naeem's Blog.
Aaminah Hernandez's thoughts, too, turn to Ramadan in [23]Ramadan: Not
Just Food, Beginning Good Habits, & A Bit of Daw'ah posted at
[24]Writeous Sister Speaks.
Ali Eteraz discusses the differing ways in which the various sects
struggling for ascendancy in Islam interpret the Qur'an in
[25]Battleground Quranica posted at [26]Jewcy.
