Age has its advantages ;>)

I've got so much going on right now sleep has become optional.
In addition to my two regular jobs, I'm working on three grants,
started up a [1]Gather group to see how that would fly, (it's unlike
anything I've tried before) and preparing to self-publish one (or
maybe two) of my books, come October.
I think I'm going to go with [2]BookSurge and see what happens, and
try [3]Lulu for the other one.
I couldn't have done most of this stuff 20 or even 10 years ago when I
still had my own kid, and a "borrowed boy" or two and a couple of dogs
to take care of. Now it's only me and Paul here, I don't have to worry
about having dinner on the table at 6 or making sure everybody's got
clean school/work clothes.
In days past, I used to really worry that I'd never accomplish
anything, as in, the kind of things my grandchildren would remember me
by. Most people don't worry about these things as much, but for the
last 20 years I've had a lot of contact with older people because of
living in a "retirement destination."
The upside is that I think I'm finally getting into that high-energy
thing older women are rumored to get. I know why [4]Madeline L'Engle
(who passed away last Thursday) and others published most of their
works after the age of 40. You get to a point where you just can. So
those of you younger women who are reading this, take heart. There
really does come a time when you can do things for yourself, and all
the other things that you do now to keep your husband and your kids
and your house going don't matter so much.
