   The left is often (wrongly) accused of being silent or apathetic to
   issues like Islamic theocracy or oppression in the Muslim majority
   world. This has been useful right-wing spin. Just one bit of proof
   lies in the fact that my piece on [1]The Making of the Muslim Left has
   been edited and reprinted at the frontpage of Alternet, a progressive
   website.

   (Though they did, out of their own accord, rephrase the idea of the
   Muslim left into "reforming Islam" -- which I disagree with but will
   put up with for now).

   By the way, if you've already read Making of the Muslim Left at the
   Guardian (another leftist place), you don't need to re-read it,
   although the commentators are different. American instead of Brit.
