The Oldest Car You've Ever Owned

This meme started [1]here
[2]Doc Searls picked it up.
I like this one, as it reminds me of a conversation I had with a
couple of the other students in my class in DC last week. We were
talking about cars. One lady, who lives in Manhattan, doesn't and has
never had one, though she does occasionally drive her husband's. The
other lady lives in New Jersey and was talking about her husband's new
car that he bought without air conditioning. (Didn't know you'd need
A/C in NJ - go figure!)
I mentioned that I'd never had a new car, and was thinking about a
replacement for my 1989 Ford Festiva, and expected to pay about $2500
for the next one. They both thought I'd lost my mind. Of course when
your husband is "in the biz," so to speak (he teaches Marines to fix
their cars and has a great auto-related network) it's not so difficult
to imagine getting a fixer-upper and making it work.
In fact, he paid $200 for the '91 Isuzu PU he now drives, and put only
about a further $200 into it in parts. I don't remember what he paid
for the '77 Ford F-350, but it's still road-ready and good for taking
BIG toys up to the grandkids.
You can keep a car a long time out here - no rust!
What's your favorite oldie-but-goodie?
