   I generally think too much is made of the fact that [1]there has been
   either a Bush or a Clinton in the White House since 1981. First, that
   presumes George H.W. Bush's 8 years as Vice President really amounts
   to being "in the White House" (it didn't under his tenure), and makes
   too much out of what amounts to three Presidencies, possibly a fourth.

   My own guess is that in 2008, pouty Christian fundamentalists will
   throw a temper tantrum and support a third party against the
   Republican nominee, Rudy Giuliani, which will pretty much guarantee
   Senator Clinton her spot in the White House. And she'll serve her four
   or possibly 8 years, reasonably competently. She will do the sane
   thing and keep us in Iraq, will be sure to nominate very pro-abortion
   candidates to the Supreme Court (which will be God's way of punishing
   the idiot fundies), we'll finally have a more functional national
   health care system, and the country will otherwise remain pretty much
   as it is--full of harshly divided rhetoric and lots of name-calling in
   its politics, but fundamentally sound and stable.

   By the way, in this scenario, I'd probably be voting for Giuliani
   (probably), but not shedding a tear watching Hillary take the reins.
   [2]My lovely wife, the staunch Republican, says she'll probably vote
   for Hillary.

   What's going to be truly entertaining is watching the contortions the
   far left has to put itself through to defend Mrs. Clinton's
   administration.
