The War Over The War

Hollywood [1]just can't understand why their trite anti-war lecturing
isn't translating into huge box-office success.

Iraq films remain a difficult sell for audiences because of the
swirl of confusion surrounding the rights and wrongs of the
     conflict, he added.
"World War II was hugely romanticized in terms of its fiction.
There were unambiguous villains, and the feeling we were fighting
the right people over the right issues, as opposed to this war,

Right, because there's so much moral ambiguity about terrorists who
saw off journalists' heads on propaganda videos and blow up kids for
going to school. And Saddam Hussein? Well, sure, he killed millions,
but he was a boon to professional rapists and did wonderful things for
the palace-building industry, so that's really a grey area too. Let's
be honest: the "confusion surrounding the rights and wrongs" have
nothing to do with the war iteslf and everything to do with
   Hollywood's politics.
Forget these losers like Brian da Palma and Robert Redford. What we
need is a Frank Miller Iraq movie. The people we're fighting there are
every bit as sinister as any villain in Sin City, and the cause every
bit as noble (and our soldiers as heroic) as the Greeks' in 300. This
is a brutal, ugly, noble war against horrible, tyrannical, tenacious
evil: it's exactly the sort of unsubtle conflict Miller's visionary
   hack-n-slash genius excels at.
