Tens Of Thousands Of Iraqis Return; ISF Improving

   A surge of [1]returnees:

     BAGHDAD - Declining violence has prompted Iraqi refugees to pack up
     and return home, with the government on Wednesday claiming 46,030
     people crossed back over the borders in October alone.

   The article also notes some bodies were found, which will probably
   continue to happen as coalition and Iraqi forces enter more areas that
   have not had a security presence.
   And how are those Iraqi forces doing? They're, [2]er, well,
   [3]increasingly effective -- a description that was [4]somewhat
   controversial only a few short months ago, but [5]heartily endorsed by
   U.S. commanders today.

     Major-General Joseph Fil, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, said
     al Qaeda in Iraq no longer had a foothold in any part of the city
     of 7 million people.
     ...
     He said the Iraqi security forces had become "much, much more
     effective,"

   That noise you hear is Andrew Sullivan gnashing his teeth in
   heartache. Probably looks something like [6]this.
