Worrying Over "Dynasties"
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1179096899.shtml
Instapundit and others are [1]worried about American political
dynasties.
I'm less concerned. Although there's always room for improving the
electoral process, I'm pretty convinced it works fine. The fact is
that political careers have always been family affairs. Franklin
Roosevelt as related to Theodore Roosevelt, for example. Joseph
Kennedy wanted to be President, got one of his sons (John) elected,
and many people thought that either Robert or Teddy would also become
President one day.
It will be amusing, not frightening, if Hillary Clinton is our next
President. Yes, we'll be able to say we had first Bush, then Clinton,
then Bush, then Clinton, but I really see no evidence that the general
public is so deeply in love with these families that they want to see
them rule us forever.
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, in other words.
