Quick Debate Impressions

Bear in mind I lean Giuliani, so massive confirmation bias has
   probably already set in.
Romney: Probably the biggest boost from this event. Nothing he said
sticks out, but it all seemed reasonable and was well-delivered. Also,
heâs dreamy, according to a reliable source. Easy to see why the early
   money favored him.
McCain: Solid but nothing new here, very forceful, a little scary even
maybe. Probably too much baggage for anything short of personally
capturing UBL to move him much higher in the GOPâs estimation.
Giuliani: Looked like a frontrunner. Showed some charisma. Dodged and
weaved nicely on the abortion question, less so on the âinfluence of
Christiansâ with his âany large group of people joining the GOP is
goodâ reply. Stumbled a little on the Sunni/Shia question, but
eventually got a coherent answer about their history and traditions
out, and 99% of people will probably just be impressed he knew
anything. Lot of numbers about his accomplishments in NY. Overall,
   didnât hurt himself.
Huckabee: Looks too much like Kevin Spacey. Keep waiting for him to
   start talking about Kpax.
Tommy Thompson: Wisonsin still loves you and could use you. The
   nation, not so much.
Fred Thomspon: Itâs a noble dream, but you are not going to win a
campaign for President of the United States from your couch. Not
appearing makes him seem less serious.
Ron Paul: Possibe senility? Nothing is authorized by Constitution. May
   have written it.
Interestingly, everyone said no national ID except for immigrants,
although Matthews misunderstood Romney and Giuliani at first; as
they've tradionally been the tough-on-national-security party, does
this mean the GOP is courting civil libertarians? Well, we can dream.
Overall, I thought everyone but Paul sounded fairly credible, except
when a few put their hands up saying they don't believe in evolution.
