Resurrecting Retroviruses

   [1]Fascinating.

Did you know that when they discovered HIV, it was one of the very
first, tiny handful of retroviruses anyone had ever identified? And
that they didn't decide until some time after its discovery to look
for it in the early AIDS patients--and that they found it in a lot of
them but not all of them? Now, it turns out, retroviruses are quite
common, they aren't rare at all, and they're all so simple that
they're relatively easy to reproduce in a lab--and most of 'em don't
   do much of anything.

   Isn't that amazing.
