   La Shawn Barber [1]does a better job separating the issues of
   interracial marriage and gay marriage than I ever could:

     The goal of interracial marriage bans and legalized segregation was
     to maintain a subordinate class of citizens based on race. The goal
     of same-sex marriage bans is to protect traditional marriage, not
     maintain a subordinate class based on âsexual orientation.â One
     would be hard-pressed to argue that homosexuals in America are
     second-class citizens.

   Too many gay marriage proponents try to marry (all puns intended)
   their issue to the civil rights cause of blacks and that dog simply
   don't hunt.
