The Botched Invasion

[1]Here's an interesting look at how the Normandy invasion might have
been reported if FDR had today's press instead of a subservient,
friendly media (even the farthest left were on board after 1941) that
he'd threatened into even more prostrate compliance with warnings he
would take them over if he didn't like their war coverage (we also
locked up protestors; such is the price of a keeping a war popular).
Best line: "Why are we invading Germany? It was Japan that attacked
us! Why aren't we focusing on finding Hirohito and bringing him to
justice?"
Overall, I think it's actually a little too positive. Where are the
grim milestones, the obsessive focus on U.S. atrocities like the
[2]Dachau Massacre (WW II's Abu Ghraib was barely noticed), the wildly
exaggerated civilian death tolls, and the antiwar mom (with absolute
moral authority) demanding FDR's impeachment? And let's not even get
into how the Japanese internment would have been covered.
