   Obama and Clinton [1]tied. If it holds up, this is bad news for anyone
   who wants sane governance, because Hillary is going to have to swing
   left now, and to this point she's been the only acceptable Dem
   candidate.
   The Dems' honeymoon [2]didn't last long. Unfortunately, that's because
   the Democrat base is unhappy their party hasn't been antiwar enough.

     Six weeks ago the Democrats held a 24-point lead over Bush as the
     stronger leadership force in Washington; today that's collapsed to
     a dead heat. The Democrats' overall job approval rating likewise
     has dropped, from a 54 percent majority to 44 percent now -- with
     the decline occurring almost exclusively among strong opponents of
     the Iraq War.

   [3]David Obey today, after being asked if his procedural change to
   hide earmarks by moving them were they can't even be discussed might
   offend some voters:

     "I don't give a damn if people criticize me or not."
