The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1184686359.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghan bloggers. This week we've
got donkeys and minarets, a difference of opinion on Afghanistan, the
readiness of Iraq's army to create order in Iraq, and much more.
A difference of opinion in Afghanistan. [1]Afghan Warrior thinks that
NATO should put more troops into Afghanistan. [2]Sanjar thinks it
should remove the troops that are there now. There's one point on
which I certainly agree with Sanjar: I certainly don't see any way one
can make a good argument that foreign troops in Iraq provoke
opposition while foreign troops in Afghanistan don't.
[3]Baghdad Connect's take on what's going on in Iraq right now is
definitely worth reading. Key to reading: "the invaders" = us;
"Takfiris" = foreign Arab fighters in Iraq. Also, he's, shall we say
[4]skeptical about Maliki's claims. One picture is worth 1,000 words.
[5]Last-of-Iraqis is skeptical about Maliki's claim, too.
[6]There's an interesting nugget of information hidden in this post
from Emotions...--internal migration from Anbar Province to other
places in Iraq.
[7]The one who brought the donkey up the minaret is the one who should
bring it down.
[8]Hammorabi comments on the new oil law.
[9]The Shaqawa speculates on what would be likely to happen in Iraq
following a near-term withdrawal by American forces. I think his
assessment is about right but I'm not sure that pro-withdrawal folks
in the U. S. care much.
[10]Truth About Iraqis comments on the latest headlines from Iraq.
Discouraging. Some things there you probably haven't read in the
stateside press.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [11]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
