Gallup: Giuliani vs. Thompson

Interesting video [1]here. Giuliani has much more support among
moderate or liberal Repubs, Thompson seems to have a slight edge in
more conservative and churhgoing GOPers. I think this translates to
Fred taking the Southern Bible Belt (the drawl doesn't hurt either),
and Rudy taking the Northeast, with the Midwest and West deciding the
   issue.
This might be a watershed primary for the GOP: Rudy is [2]talking
about [3]redefining the GOP as the "Party of Freedom," [4]music to the
   ears of classical liberals:

Giuliani discussed the need for the Republican Party to remake and
redefine itself in order to meet the challenges of the 21st
     century.
"In redefining ourselves, we have to give people more freedom," he
     said.

There's also an issue of pragmatism here: with Rudy [5]polling ahead
of presumptive Dem nominee Hillary in New Jersey, he does seem
well-positioned to win the general election. It's hard to see how Dems
can lose New Jersey and still get enough electoral votes. Even
competing having to compete in traditionally safe blue Northeastern
states is going to make life difficult for them. And [6]this New
Jersey decision didn't hurt his primary chances any.
