No, not [1]that one. (But happy [2]Fifth Blogaversary, Frank J.!)
The other Frank -- from PostSecret -- has a [3]personal note, and a
picture (actually, two -- nice looking guy!) in today's
depressing-but-irresistible (as usual) edition.
He says:
Your secrets have added meaning to my life and become a permanent
part of who I am, but sometimes the emotional toll that comes with
that can be high.
I can only imagine. I'm still not sure, for my own reckoning, if he's
doing a good thing or not. But if this is to be believed, Frank is a
very special -- or, perhaps, a very wealthy -- person:
In a USA Today article, Michael Arrington from the Techcrunch Blog
said he generates about $200,000 a month in advertising revenue
from his Blog.
PostSecret is not as popular as Techcrunch. (Technorati ranks
TechCrunch 4th largest and PostSecret 9th largest in the world.)
But even so, I have turned down very lucrative offers from
advertisers in order to protect and respect the secrets strangers
have trusted me with.
I'm impressed (and not only with Frank -- [4]here's the USA Today
article he quoted). But my problem remains: Does public admission of
sin, a topic of most submissions to Post Secret, do more harm or good?
