The Carnival of the Liberated

Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghan bloggers. This week we
have a Bollywood picture, escaping a Shi'ite death squad, Kool-Aid,
and much, much more.
Apparently, political correctness hasn't caught on in India. Or, at
least, doesn't apply to Afghans. [1]Afghan Lord is upset about a
recent Bollywood movie that, he says, slanders Afghans. Video clip
included (dialogue in Hindi) along with transcript. Here's [2]a
profile of the blogger at Afghan Lord you might find interesting.
[3]Alive in Baghdad has a first-hand video report from a guy who found
himself caught in the middle of a battle between Americans and the
Mahdi Army while taking his wife to the hospital to deliver their
child.
[4]Baghdad Connect writes in opposition to the death penalty.
[5]Iraqi Konfused Kid recounts a harrowing story of surviving a
Shi'ite death squad.
[6]Ibn Al-Rafidain has a lengthy commentary on the report of the Iraq
Study Group.
Omar of [7]Iraq the Model considers the prospects for a new security
crackdown in Baghdad neighborhoods that's under way. That may be what
[8]Roads to Iraq is complaining about here:
US occupation forces helping Iranâs Militias once again to launch
an attack on Sunni neighborhood âHaifa streetâ, Haq agency says
that the US forces are attacking the area with military airplane
and tanks.
Many bodies of women and children seen laying on the streets of the
neighborhood.
It's also, apparently, what the [9]New York Times is reporting:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. and Iraqi soldiers, backed by American
warplanes, battled suspected insurgents for hours Tuesday in
central Baghdad, and 50 militant fighters were killed, the Defense
Ministry said.
[10]It Is All About Our life posts on the wonders of Kool-Aid.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [11]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
