   Back in 1992, I read--from cover to cover, including the footnotes and
   references pages--Senator Al Gore's book [1]Earth In The Balance, as
   part of the process of deciding who to vote for that year.

   I notice that this book was re-issued in [2]2000 and in [3]2006. I
   find that unsurprising, although I am curious to know what if anything
   might have been changed in the later editions. There would be
   substantial room for revisions I would wager.

   Anyway, some 15 years later, I have now seen his 2006 movie, [4]An
   Inconvenient Truth. Including sitting all the way through the credits,
   although I probably won't have time to see all the DVD extras. Anyway,
   after digesting it, I'll probably write my review in a couple of days.
   I have to think about this.

   I will say that Al really hasn't changed much in the last 15 years.
   I've always liked him, although I've never voted for him. Still, as
   much as people say they find him stiff and wooden and pedantic and
   condescending, I've never really felt that way (well he is a little
   stiff, but that's exaggerated). I also don't doubt that he is a very
   sincere man most of the time, especially for a politician.

   I'll tip my hand a little and note that the movie abounded with
   ironies, not least of which was this quote:

   "It is difficult to get a man to understand something if his salary
   depends upon his not understanding it."

   I wonder what the [5]Realclimate.org guys would say about that. Since
   they didn't answer my email or my public links to them in the past,
   I'm especially curious what they think of that quote.

   Anyway, as I've said many times I'm willing to compromise with the
   Gore supporters. I am. I have been for some time.

   More later when I've had more time to cogitate upon Gore's latest
   (probably mostly sincere) offering to the American public.
