   National Review has a [1]lukewarmly positive, with conditions,
   statement on a Giuliani candidacy.

   It's worth recalling, by the way, that The National Review did not
   endorse George W. Bush until it was clear he would be the Republican
   nominee, and they still didn't do so until the the week of the general
   election. They never viewed Bush as anywhere near conservative enough,
   viewed him as a substandard choice--i.e. they were about as lukewarm
   on him as they are in Giuliani now.

   The only reason I mention all this is to dispel the notion that
   traditional conservatives will "never" support Giuliani. Nonsense.

   (For those of you who don't know, The National Review is still the
   top-shelf, most respected general conservative intellectual journal.
   Religious, pro-life, hawkish, etc.
