Shoelace Tying Site

Apropos of a much earlier discussion I'm too lazy to link or find at
   the moment: [1]Ian's Shoelace Site.

I'm pretty sure that shoelace tying is a dying art--and rightly so.
Shoelaces are annoying. They require unnecessary work, plus, they come
untied at least once or twice a day unless you learn some sort of
demon knot. These days, in most cases, shoelaces have no legitimate
function. They did in the past, but they rarely do anymore, what with
   modern materials and manufacturing methods.

I was in a shoe store recently buying some new shoes for my day job.
I'd prefer not to have to worry about my shoe wear but I needed
something middlin' fancy. I opted for some [2]Florscheims because they
didn't have any [3]Rockports in my size, and the Florscheims looked
   nice and were comfortable.

I noted, as I have been noticing increasingly, that more than half the
adult men's shoes did not feature real laces. A few had decorative,
non-functional laces. About half had no laces at all.

I noticed that about half the athletic shoes had no laces either.

I hate shoelaces. At this point, in fact, I refuse to buy shoes that
   require laces.

Still, I guess it's sort of useful if you know how to tie shoes. In
the same way that it's sort of useful to know how to use a soldering
iron, or how to saddle a horse, or [4]how to build a crystal radio
   set.

   (Thanks Ruth.)
