Is Super Tuesday Going To Become "National Primary Day?"

   It's [1]starting to look that way. I think it makes a lot of sense;
the current system of campaigning extensively in NH and Iowa while
mostly ignoring other states is ridiculously arbitrary. It seems odd
that, as far as I can remember, California's selection has never
   mattered.

While the three traditional primary states and Nevada have not set
their dates yet, the first Tuesday in February is getting jammed up
with states now participating in Super Tuesday, the multi-state
primary day. Several states are set by law to hold their primaries
on the first Tuesday in February. They include Arizona, Alabama,
Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma and
     Vermont.
In addition, several states â California, Florida, Illinois, New
Jersey, South Dakota and Kansas â are legislating, with the support
of their governors, to also hold their primaries on Feb. 5.

Looking at [2]this link (thanks Dean), we can see that enough of the
delegates may be decided that day as to make the other primaries
mostly irrelevant, and the process of joining that group has already
   begun to snowball.
If this continues, the collective weight of the Super Tuesday primary
will greatly diminish the impact of the NH and Iowa primaries, even if
they continue to be held ahead of the others, as seems likely since it
is (rather selfishly) written into their state laws.
