"An Important Step Toward" Running for President

   Yesterday, Rudy Giuliani filed the official paperwork that makes him,
   legally and indisputably, a Presidential candidate. How did he choose
   to announce this to the public?

   "[1]Today we just took another step toward running for president...
   It's a big step, an important one.... We still have to think about a
   formal announcement and how to do it, but this is a pretty strong
   step."

   Anothher step? You know, in December my wife and I took another big
   step toward getting married. We celebrated our 11th anniversary.

   I actually heard a pundit asked the question, "Do you think he'll
   run?" And the pundit answered that he though yes, Rudy would probably
   run because he's raising a lot of money and seems to be pretty well
   organized at his many campaign stops.

   I can only laugh out loud at the ridiculousness. And at the sheer
   audacity of Rudy pulling this off.

   I know a guy who's thinking about becoming a weblogger. His first big
   step was starting a blog. Then when he'd been at it a year he noted on
   his 1,000th post that he'd taken another big step toward becoming a
   weblogger. But he wasn't ready to declare himself a weblogger quite
   yet, because that would be a pretty big step and not one to be taken
   hastily.

   Rudy has stated openly that he never announces that he's running for
   any office. He's said he thinks it bad luck. The best you'll get out
   of him is evasions like "there's a good chance" or "I do seem to be
   running, don't I?"

   I look forward to reading future stories about Rudy's latest big step
   toward running. Like winning the New Hampshire primary or something.
