   [1]Zos Chanukah is the term for the last day and night of Chanuka.
   Today, the second day of the month of Teives, is the last day, and
   this morning in synagogue we read the passage beginning with the words
   zos chanukah, "This is the inauguration," i.e., of the Altar in the
   Holy Temple -- hence the name. (See here for what you didn't already
   know about the [2]politics of Chanukah.)

   This all-encompassing terminology has given rise to a tradition of
   thoughts on some aspect of the meaning of Chanuka as embodied in this
   last day, and I've added my own, [3]here.
