"Muslim!" Now Available In Insult Form

No one who reads this blog or any of my writings can honestly suggest
that I do not loudly speak out against acts of Muslim injustice and
barbarity and I've been involved in trying to change Islamic apostasy
laws, reforming obscene rape laws, or speaking in favor of the rights
of Muslim women. I take stands against major Muslim groups when they
stifle speech or engage in violence. I am not going to let up on any
   of that.

However, I am increasingly becoming alarmed at the immense latent
hostility towards Muslims. I take great pride in being able to
identify intellectual trends, and this is probably one of my favorite
God given gifts. One of the latest intellectual trends is to treat
"Muslim" as an idea, and worse, a contemptible idea. If that happens
-- assuming it hasn't already -- it will create a sad and egregious
schism between human beings. I cannot support that, and in fact, all
of us should resist it with the same vehemence that we resist any
other acts of dehumanization. To turn people into abstractions is
   unacceptable.

Please read my article [1]"Muslim!" Now Available in Insult Form, at
Jewcy Magazine. I find it heartening (but not surprising) that a
Jewish magazine allows for space to run such articles. Feel free to
share it with whomever you like. Also, I provide a list of suggests at
the end of the article. If you should like to add more, please use the
comments page. I remind, the aim of the article is try and prevent
"Muslim" from becoming a hegemonic idea, an abstraction, so that we
never forget that there is no such thing as Muslim, only Muslims.
