The Carnival of the Liberated

Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghan bloggers. This week we've
got the wall, a mentor, a cousin, and more.
[1]Attawie bids farewell to a beloved mentor.
[2]Roads to Iraq has been complaining a lot recently about the closing
of the disinformation site, Islammemo. I have mixed feelings. Does
freedom of the speech and of the press include spreading outright
lies?
[3]Hammorabi proclaims "the surge" a failure.
Probably the biggest topic in the Iraqi blogosphere this week has been
the construction of "the Wall"--a security barrier in the Adhamiya
neighborhood. Few really had much to say about it other than
expressing opposition. Omar of [4]Iraq the Model puts in his two
cents. [5]anarki-13's comments are here.
[6]The Mesopotamian proposes a "middle way" for the United States
between the extremes of withdrawal and "the surge".
Fatima of [7]Thoughts from Baghdad has learned the fate of her cousin,
Bilal, kidnapped last week. He's been murdered.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [8]The Glittering Eye.
The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
