   March Boucher [1]reports that Liftport has shut down. As far as I can
   tell they never produced much besides some neat graphics and a
   countdown clock. A shame, but as with the Panama Canal there are bound
   to be multiple failures, both financial and physical, before success
   is achieved in such a massive and revolutionary engineering project.
   In more promising news, Marc also notes a small prototype orbital
   tether/crawler made by [2]Tethers Unlimited has reached orbit and
   should shortly begin testing.
