   Tom Bevan over at RCP [1]had the same thought I did this morning when
   reading about the Edwards' unwelcome "rabid" Republican neighobor: how
   interesting that in rural North Carolina, he has a Giuliani sign. And
   it [2]looks like he didn't buy the sign, but actually put it together
   himself.
   Tom opines that the celebrity neighbor and those like him could switch
   to Fred Thompson "in a New York minute," but I'm not so sure. As I've
   [3]said before, Rudy's patina of heroism was forged in what remains
   the defining political moment for Republicans at a national level.
   While the media and left have largely moved on, people in rural areas
   have long memories, especially regarding an attack on America, and
   tend to be stubborn in their preferences.
   Gallup, by the way, [4]has Rudy up by 22 points in their latest poll
   of a wide field. The former mayor actually gets more than his next
   three challengers combined, and Mitt Romney, winner of the last
   quarter's money race, registers only a miniscule 6%.
