   Aren't [1]they the [2]ones who keep insisting we need engagement and
   dialogue with most evil people in the world? I guess Bashir Assad and
   Kim Jong Il are acceptable, but Roger Ailes is just beyond the pale.
   I'm trying to imagine the reaction if a GOP presidential candidate had
   ever even hinted at refusing to attend a debate on Ted "My Wife Was An
   Enemy Propagandist For Communists" Turner's CNN. I'm sure the
   hysterical reaction would involve the phrases "crushing of dissent"
   and "freedom of speech." Of course, since the GOP's constituents
   actually understand what those words mean (Dem candidates are
   naturally free to appear or not on any venue they choose), that tactic
   isn't effective for them -- which is a bit ironic, [3]considering.
   It's the eternal recurrence of the old Washington saw: Democrats will
   surrender to anyone but Republicans, and Republicans are willing to
   fight uncompromisingly with anyone but Democrats. I used to think that
   had something to do with the character of the leadership, but more and
   more I realize their policy positions and the media push them that
   way.
