   Instapundit notes that some believe there is an [1]inherent conflict
   of interest in having judges be lawyers.

   How else would you do it? Actually in many parts of the world, they're
   completely separate professions. Indeed, a lawyer goes to lawyer
   school, and a judge goes to judge school. They just aren't the same
   profession at all. It still works that way in some parts of the United
   States; I know that at one time in Nevada you could get training to
   become a judge and it was never suggested that you even should be a
   lawyer, let alone needed to be one.

   Conflict of interest is tricky business and it can affect anyone,
   after all.
