   The Mideast governments that propagandize hatred of Israel do so for
   the same reason the Soviet bloc used to propagandize against Western
   Europe: acknowledging the truth of liberal democracy's moral and
   economic superiority is tantamount to suicide for repressive,
   impoverished regimes.
