The Carnival of the Liberated

Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got reflections on 9/11, a call for a unified vision, a trip to
   Sulaimaniah, and much more.

[1]Afghan Lord reflects on September 11.

[2]24 Steps to Liberty considers the War on Terror and isn't happy
   with what he sees:

It is clear that after the invasion of Iraq [and I am all for the
war in Iraq in 2003, but I have to say this] we gave the best and
the greatest chance ever to the extremists to play âdefendersâ of
the Arabic and Islamic nations. Now, they have the power and the
reason to keep killing people in the streets under the name of
Islam and âliberating the land from the occupiers.â

Bush said that the Iraqis are happy now with their freedom!!! What
the heck! Wake up man. You missed the whole show. Go read one news
story from the Washington Post or New Times or Los Angeles Times or
just listen to BBC. And by the way, turn FOX news down so you could
hear the real stuff from other sources.

I can't excerpt Miraj of [3]Baghdad Chronicle's latest post or even
explain clearly what it's about. A lament for the state of things in
Iraq? A statement of determination? Read it and see for yourself.

On the occasion of the transfer of control of Abu Ghraib prison to the
Iraqi government, Al Tarrar of [4]Baghad Connect tries to make sense
   of it all.

LadyBird of [5]Roads to Iraq translates snippets of editorials from
Arab language newspapers on the 9/11 anniversary.

[6]Iraqi Konfused Kollege Kid gives a day-by-day description of a
   discouraging week.

[7]Hammorabi (who I believe is a Shi'ite Arab) proclaims the war in
Iraq a failure for the United States.

Mohammed of [8]Iraq the Model calls for a unified vision.

[9]neurotic iraqi wife posts a tribute to one of those killed in the
   attack on September 11.

[10]Sooni has come back from a lengthy hiatus at least long enough to
post what I think is the best reflection I've read on the attacks of
September 11, 2001 bar none. A MUST READ!

Zappy of [11]Where Date Palms Grow explains very clearly why any plan
to divide Iraq along sectarian/ethnic lines will be far from neat and
   tidy.

How about ending this week's Carnival on a hopeful note? [12]Iraqi
Roulette posts on a trip to Sulaimaniah. That doesn't do the post
justice. Also, check [13]out the pictures.

Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [14]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
