The Path to 9/11

Clinton administration officials are [1]outraged over a movie called
The Path to 9/11. They call it false, defamatory, and deplorable--and
   those are the nice words.

I frankly believe them, and, further, do not blame them for being
angry at false portrayals. I've thought ever since 9/11 that
retrospective4 recriminations levelled at the government were
disgusting and completely inappropriate. I thought (and still think)
that [2]Richard Clarke was a complete horse's ass, as were the people
who helped make him a celebrity. And I won't even get into how much
[3]Fahrenheit 9/11 made me want to vomit.

Given, however, the way we've seen "Bush Lied!" become acceptable
political discourse, and how it's been open season to say anything, no
matter how vicious and hateful, about the current occupants of the
White House, I have an increasingly hard time feeling any sympathy
   here.

Oh, let me be clear: I condemn this movie. You don't have to see it to
know it's trash, given what the people portrayed in it have to say. I
have no intention of giving its creators the dignity of watching it.

But given the outright vitriol and shrieking dishonesty we've seen
time again spewed at the Bush administration, I have trouble raising
more than mild contempt for a return to the "good old days" (that's
   sarcasm) of Clinton-bashing.
