The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1161095212.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week we
have the al-Samarai case, the Lancet report, reports from Baghdad, and
much more.
[1]24 Steps to Liberty comments on the [2]al-Samarai case, in which a
former Iraqi minister, tried and convicted of corruption, was seized
by American troops on the grounds that he was an American citizen (he
holds dual citizenship). A troubling case that hasn't received enough
attention in the Western media or the blogosphere, for that matter.
[3]Hammorabi comments on the case, too.
The big story in the Iraqi blogosphere this week was the recent Lancet
report of excess deaths in Iraq since 2003. [4]Baghdad Connect weighs
in on the report. Omar of [5]Iraq the Model posts his reponse to the
Lancet story. [6]Konfused Kollege Kid responds angrily to the ITM
post. [7]My Not-So-Humble Opinion is equally critical of ITM.
[8]Freedom of Mind posts a lament for the deaths. [9]neurotic iraqi
wife is back in Iraq and believes the Lancet numbers.
[10]Roads to Iraq has posted a number of times about the [11]fire and
explosions in a U. S. ammo dump last week. Apparently, the stories
going around in Iraq differ markedly from those that were reported in
the Western media.
[12]First words, first walk, first... in Iraq posts about a word that
makes her blood boil: tomorrow.
[13]Five Rings posts about what he learned about Ramadan.
[14]Nabil reports from the Baghdad neighborhoods.
[15]Thoughts from Baghdad recounts how Baghdad has changed for the
worse over the last three months.
Miriam of [16]Pearls of Iraq comments on Nobel Peace Prize winner
Muhammed Yunus.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [17]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
