   A Marist poll shows that [1]Giuliani is very popular among Republicans
   as well as the general electorate.

   Of course the Republican primaries are still a year and a half away or
   so, and and social conservatives haven't had their chance to start
   kicking him around yet as a "New York Liberal" and "soft on gays and
   abortion" and whatnot. Still....
