   The Hill notes a [1]spat over seniority in the Senate.

   Frankly (heh!) I'm on Lautenberg's side. If you retire for a year or
   two, then rethink and return, should you be required to start over as
   a Freshman? That doesn't seem right. If seniority is about acquired
   wisdom and experience, then, if you leave and come back shouldn't you
   be recognized as an elder statesman who returned?

   I understand these things are more political than anything else. And I
   have no great love for Lautenberg (he's not my Senator after all).
   Still, that seems right to me.
