The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1159884466.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. First, to all
of the Muslim Iraqi bloggers: Ramadan kareem. This week we have
dividing Iraq, the Israeli involvement in Kurdistan, garbage
collection, and more.
I found this [1]briefing statement from Roads to Iraq on Iraqi Prime
Minister Maliki's advisors interesting. It's apparently a translation
from an Arabic language blog. I think this sort of scrutiny is a
positive development.
You might want to take a look at [2]first words, first walk,
first...in Iraq's account of her friend's detention by the militia.
[3]Hammorabi posts on the practice of fasting during Ramadan.
[4]Ibn al-Rafidain considers the question "do we need the Americans?"
On a related subject Omar of [5]Iraq the Model comments on the recent
poll of Iraqis which found that a large proportion of Iraqis approves
of attacks on Americans and wants them out.
Omar of [6]Iraq the Model reports on Baghdad under curfew.
[7]Iraqi Screen has a very interesting post on the founding of Moqtada
al-Sadr's Mahdi army. The post appears to be fragmentary or an
extensive quotation from another source but it's interesting
nonetheless.
[8]Iraqi Roulette has a long, rambling post on the violence there. In
another post on violence [9]Thoughts from Baghdad notes multiple
kidnappings of computer store employees.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [10]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
