     When asked which Party they believe would cut taxes for the
     middle-class 42% said the Democrats while only 29% chose the
     Republicans.
     When asked which Party will work toward reducing the deficit 47%
     chose the Democrats while only 22% chose the Republicans.
     Again, when asked who will keep government spending under control
     the Democrats held a 17 point edge (38% Democrats, 21%
     Republicans).

   Or maybe Democrats will really live up to all that. Come on, don't
   laugh, it could happen.
   As they've been out of power for so long, during which time the GOP
   hasn't done itself a lot of favors, it's easy to see why the public
   might believe the Democratic platform has really changed this much.
   But I remember which party raised taxes, blocked the Balanced Budget
   Amendment, and generally always wants to spend more, so when it comes
   to them now actually living up to their pre-ascension rhetoric color
   me hopeful, but skeptical.
