Remembering My Predictions
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1162974942.shtml

   Quote:

Nancy Pelosi will become Speaker of the House in January 2007.

In November 2006, not one incumbent House Democrat will lose
election, but there will be more than one Republican upset.
Including possibly my own (titularly safe) congressman, Thad
     McCotter.

The Senate may or may not change hands, but the House will flip.

Quote me on this in November. Let's see if I'm wrong.

I wrote that on October 5th. Except for the part about Thad
McCotter--I can't seem to find out how he did--all of that was
   correct.

I will also gloat by saying that I also predicted that Ned Lamont
would do terribly and that Joe Lieberman would walk away with the
election easily. Why? Because I did not believe then, and do not
believe now, that defeat and surrender are what most voters desire.
And that, by the way, was not the message that most successful
Democrats won on yesterday. Unhappiness and impatience and a demand
   that something be done, yes.

It should be interesting to see what happens next. Democrats are going
to be in a position now where they have to produce results rather than
just constantly carping and whining. I also predict that at least some
partisans who got used to doing nothing but criticizing Republicans
will be stung and shocked when they hear some of their own arguments
   flung back in their faces.

It's going to be interesting to see how the White House deals with
this, and how the new Speaker and Majority Leader form a relationship
with this White House. This could be an opportunity for all parties to
forge new and positive directions. Or we can spend two more years of
food fights. I guess we'll see.
