Linking to an [1]item I wrote here at the beginning of last month, a
blog called The Ratnest [2]writes, "The concept of 'trust' as a
commodity has shown up in some of the edgier sci-fi of the 90âs and
beyond, but there hasnât really been an attempt to quantify it that
Iâm aware of." He then goes on to discuss a new blog-rating system and
   the dangers of manipulation.

   Trust as a commodity?

Odd. Just yesterday I saw, in the comments to a posting on a [3]blog
of a very different color, this question: "Is trust an emotion?"

Well, is it? Maybe it actually is. It's something you feel in your
gut. Yes, like many other emotions it's informed by as much fact as
you can expose it to, but ultimately, isn't trust the very opposite of
   a commodity?

I had never thought of this before. And how much depends on trust!
