The Carnival of the Liberated

Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've got books, black, Basrah, a barber shop, and much, much more.
Abu Khaleel of [1]A Glimpse of Iraq has published his posts in book
form. [2]Ishtarria takes a break from her novel to write nice things
about it and him. [3]Ibn Al-Rafidain notes the importance of mutual
understanding, the impracticality for many Iraqis of visiting the
United States and for Americans of visiting Iraq, and suggests books
as a method of gaining understanding. Indeed, we have a poet who
wrote:
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away...
[4]Hammorabi comments on the [5]crash of the British helicopter in
Basrah last week:
Basrah will remain tense and will never settle after the incident
of the British helicopter and the clashes between the demonstrators
and the British forces. Some of the Western media like the BBC
falsely reported that the demonstrators celebrated the incident. In
actual fact when the helicopter fall down on a residential area,
the people tried to reach that area to rescue the victims in the
houses. The British forces then prevented them and this is where
the clashes started. Among those killed in the clashes are children
less than 14 years old.
Zeyad of [6]Healing Iraq reports on the aftermath of the Battle of
Adhamiyah. With pictures.
Mohammed of [7]Iraq the Model recounts a conversation in a barber
shop. I see they're the same the world around.
[8]My Letters to America muses on the marriage of an Iraqi girl to an
American soldier.
[9]neurotic iraqi wife now has an imaginary friend.
Miriam of [10]Pearls of Iraq writes that the stress is taking its toll
of the Iraqis.
Najeeb Hanoudi of [11]The Hanoudi Letter writes about the United
States, oil, Iran, and the Biden plan.
[12]Treasure of Baghdad opens with a meditation on the color black and
closes with his concerns for his parents.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [13]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
