The Carnival of the Liberated
http://www.deanesmay.com/posts/1142348495.shtml
Welcome to the Carnival of the Liberated, a sampler of some of the
best posts of the week from Iraqi and Afghani bloggers. This week
we've a rather glum Carnival with a politician sentenced to death, a
death in the family and an attack on a school, and much, much more.
[1]Afghan Warrior notes that the intelligence chief of the Communist
government that ruled Afghanistan between 1979 and 1992, imprisoned
since then, has been sentenced to death. He concludes with a plea for
clemency.
Aunt Najma of [2]A Star from Mosul reports a sad juxtaposition: her
great-uncle has died, apparently killed by U. S. forces, and her
school was struck by a mortar. There are additional takes on the same
stories from family members Sunshine of [3]Days of My Life, [4]hnk,
and Mama of [5]Emotions.... As you can imagine, they're pretty upset.
[6]Sanyora and [7]The Grandson report on the school attack, too.
Now Omer is watching cartoons. From [8]Children's Voice from Iraq.
Ali of [9]A Free Iraqi has been posting up a storm lately,
particularly about sectarian violence. The linked post is about the
Moqtada al-Sadr's rising level of anti-Sunni and anti-American
rhetoric.
[10]Freedom of Mind tries to put terrorism and Saddam's regime in
perspective.
[11]From Me With Love wonders if higher education isn't disappearing
from Iraq. The educated have greater mobility and can get more
education and jobs outside of Iraq.
[12]Hammorabi reports on the attacks in Sadr City
. I haven't linked to it but there's a rumor going around that it was
the work of the Americans. Mohammed of [13]Iraq the Model reports on
the security situation in Baghdad, too.
[14]Sooni, back from hiatus, has a very interesting post from a
women's prison with pictures.
[15]Truth About Iraqis writes about the murder of American pacifist
Tom Fox by terrorists in Iraq.
Dave Schuler posts regularly to his own weblog, [16]The Glittering
Eye. The Carnival was originally conceived by Ryan Boots.
